Growing up in a religious home, John Prominski was around faith, but not personally involved in it. For twenty years, life consisted of doing pretty much as he pleased. After staying up all night snorting cocaine he attended a church service at his sister’s request. First Assembly of God in Grand Rapids was unlike any church he had ever seen. A couple church services later and John found himself at the altar surrendering his life to Christ.
John got involved in ministry at First Assembly of God. He ministered to Junior and Senior High School students. He also sang in the choir which is where he met his wife Lisa. John and Lisa moved to Grand Haven and got involved in the Grand Haven Resurrection Life Church. Their sons Cory and Colin were born in Grand Haven.
By the fall of 1994 John was ordained and in the ministry full time at the Grand Haven Resurrection Life Church. The Youth Ministry grew under the leadership of John and Lisa. The pastor asked John to pray about being a Senior Pastor.
In February of 1997 John and Lisa were on staff as Pastoral Interns at the Grandville Resurrection Life Church under Pastor Duane VanderKlok. In June of 1997 John and Lisa along with fifteen people began holding services in the home of Rick and Kristin Johnson in Ionia. On September 14, 1997 Resurrection Life Church held its first Sunday service in the Ionia Middle School’s Watt Auditorium.
Since 1997 the church has grown wonderfully. After securing a building and renovating it in downtown Ionia the church has more than tripled in size. John and Lisa had another son, Carson, born to them in Ionia. They believe that their family is priority one and they live that way. John and Lisa live in Ionia with their three sons Cory, Colin and Carson.
Pastor John speaks regularly at conferences and churches. He is known for his testimony and ability to make biblical truths relative and applicable. John sees the Resurrection Life Church of Ionia as a place of healing from which changed lives can be used by God to change the lives of others. John emphasizes intimacy with God and weekly gives time to fasting and prayer.
John attended Grand Rapids Junior College and is a graduate of Christian Life School of Theology. He is also continuing his education through the International School of Ministry. John enjoys sports and coffee. One of his passions is to see people released into the purpose and calling God has for their lives.
